Henry Sussman is a writer living in New York City. Trained as a comparatist, he taught at a string of universities including Johns Hopkins and SUNY-Buffalo. His most recent book of literary and cultural criticism, The Great Dismissal (Bloomsbury, 2023), is a memoir of the first Trump presidency, one drawing on the accrued wisdom of contemporary critical theory and its legal and systemic offshoots. Since retiring from the Yale German Department in 2018, his play, “Soirée at Walter Benjamin’s” was produced at the New York Theatre Festival (Fall, 2023) and a debut volume of poetry, “Polaroids of Turbulence,” appeared in 2024 from BlazeVOX [books].
