Born and raised on a farm just outside the American Midwest city of Milwaukee, Kat Cary moved to Edinburgh in 2016 to study psychology but soon got involved in Scottish politics. Enlisting in the US Navy as a teenager, she was a P-3 Flight Engineer for 12 years before being medically retired. She is an Edinburgh Uni alumnus, a member of Democrats Abroad Global Women’s Caucus, and a democratic socialist who co-hosts Talking Sense, part of the Left Ungagged Podcast family.
