We all know the much-loved Proclaimers song. The lyrics now resonate in a way that perhaps we could never imagine they would when the song was first aired in 1987 on their debut album. In these articles Bylines Scotland hopes to bring you updates, hard facts and opinions in what the second Trump Presidency might mean for you, Scotland and the rest of the world.

Welcome and meet the Trump Team 2.0

I’m not going to introduce all of our Donald’s nominations but the following are stand out examples of who we are going to get in the Trump 2.0 administration commencing on 20 January. I am confident that we will hear much more from our noisy neighbours and from the individuals who make up his team. I want to take this opportunity to introduce the people who I consider to be the prominent examples and whose ‘’caliber’’ that President-Elect Trump will foist on America and the rest of the world.

So, in the best style of the Radio Four classic, ‘I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue’’ (Series 1 Episode 1) I invite you to meet the team!

The Trump Team 2.0 (the standout nominees)

And in the red corner we have :

Secretary of Health and Human Services: Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Trump picked Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to lead the Department of Health and Human Services, saying he will take on “industrial food complex and drug companies who have engaged in deception, misinformation, and disinformation”, and will “Make America Great and Healthy Again!”

He has claimed a number of health issues have worsened due to federal inaction, including autism, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, sleep disorders, infertility rates, diabetes and obesity. He has also urged removing fluoride from drinking water.

Defence Secretary: Pete Hegseth

Hegseth, 44, was a co-host of Fox & Friends Weekends and author of the book The War on Warriors: Behind the Betrayal of the Men Who Keep Us Free, which rails against what he calls the “warped, woke, and caustic policies of our current military.”

Secretary of Energy: Chris Wright

Wright has been a vocal advocate of oil and gas development, including fracking, and has said “there is no climate crisis and we are not in the midst of an energy transition either.”

Tell that to the people of the Palisades California as the death toll currently stands at 24 and as many as 10,000 structures have been destroyed at the time of writing.

Department of Government Efficiency: Elon Musk & Vivek Ramaswamy

“I am pleased to announce that the ‘great’ Elon Musk, working in conjunction with American patriot Vivek Ramaswamy, will lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my administration to dismantle government bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure federal agencies”, Trump said in a statement, adding a quote from Musk, who said: “This will send shockwaves through the system, and anyone involved in government waste, which is a lot of people!”

The great Elon Musk is a businessman known for his key roles in Tesla and SpaceX. He also owns X formally better known as Twitter. Elon likes the sound of his own voice. I can hear my mother now,

‘He’s a blowhard Charlie! He’s nothing but a blowhard!’

More concerningly Musk said on X to the people of Germany, ‘’Only AfD can save Germany. You must vote for change. I am strongly recommending that people vote for AfD’’. Is this direct interference in the affairs of a sovereign state? Your call.

2025 – 2029

We are standing on the brink of what could be an interesting four years. The voyage ahead will not be a smooth one. There will be bumps on the road, but one thing is guaranteed, it will be interesting!

This next four years will be President Trump’s finale. It may prove to usher in a new world of peace and progress. I certainly hope so. The proof of the pudding will be in the eating. Bylines Scotland’s commitment will be to tell, the whole truth and nothing but the truth as we see it.

There will be more of these if I can get them through security at USA airport security. We take the risks, so you don’t have to!

Stay safe, many thanks for reading.

More in world.
