Poverty at Christmas, a harsh and cruel fate

A time of joy and cheer, but for some it’s too late

The cost of fuel is high, the bills pile up and grow

Leaving little room for gifts, or a Christmas feast to show

But still we hold on tight, to the love within our hearts

We find a way to make do, with the little that we’ve got

We huddle close together, and find warmth in each embrace

And in the love we share, we find solace in this place

For in the end, it’s not the gifts or the grand feast

That brings us joy and peace, at the holiday’s least

It’s the love we share, and the time we spend

With those we hold dear, in the journey’s end

So let us hold on tight, to the love that we possess

And find a way to make do, in the times of duress

For in the end, it’s the love we share and give

That brings us joy and peace, as long as we live
