All of us at Bylines Scotland would like to send our heartfelt thanks to our readers, writers, subscribers, donors and editors for their valuable input that has made our growing success possible. It’s been quite a year and we have managed to publish articles from all over Scotland, looking at issues in areas such as politics, the economy, health and environmental concerns.

Our year in a glimpse

As one of the younger papers within the Bylines Network, we are delighted to share that in 2023 we have had 164,265 views and 101,485 visitors. Our three most popular articles are Why Scotland should be independent, What really lies behind the sNP’s slip in the polls? and The wild haggis – all the facts and no fiction. We are starting to be seen around the world, with United States, Ireland, Australia being at the top of list after the UK. The subscription to our newsletter has been increasing along the year and has reached 754.

Being an independent and a progressive newspaper

Being free from corporate interest, our network continues to develop, giving an impartial platform for debate and discussion at a community level. Striving for a progressive and inclusive approach, we are always seeking to represent citizens from all walks of life. This means hearing from people of all ethnicities and those who are marginalised as well as raising opinions on current affairs, wherever you are in Scotland.

Developing Bylines Scotland: citizens’ pivotal role

We are so excited that every week brings new writers forward to share their stories and we are busy developing Bylines Scotland, to best get these stories heard. You don’t have to be a journalist to have a message, citizen journalism should be inclusive, and we can support you with this process! If you would like to get in touch with an article or as an editor to ensure the quality of our copies, you can email us at editor@bylines.scot.

Your support is fundamental to our existence and growth. Please consider donating, no matter the amount, to our crowdfunding and publication.

Once again, we wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
