Ronnie Barbour from Bylines Scotland Radio interviews Lesley Riddoch is one of Scotland’s best-known commentators and broadcasters.
Lesley was born in Wolverhampton to Scottish parents: a mother from Wick and a dad from Banffshire. She lived in Belfast before moving to Glasgow at the age of 13. Lesley attended Oxford University. At Oxford she was the first non-Tory President of the Student’s Union – a daunting task. Later, Lesley completed a post-graduate a journalism course at Cardiff University and then a PhD at Strathclyde University in 2020. Bylines Scotland talks to Lesley about her journey in male dominated areas, from her time at Oxford and in the early days of her journalistic career. Lesley is passionate about Scotland and all things Nordic. What can Scotland learn from its Scandinavian neighbours and what connects us in the age of technology?
