Anyone, at any time, can be touched by mental health issues, and in our busy world our problems often go unnoticed. Some do not recognise depression for what it is, or the destructive power it wields. It can be a silent killer, of mind, soul and body. We often fail to see the need in others, or ourselves, and fail to seek help in times of crisis.

Depression/

Depression is like a worm

Slithering silently in the dark.

It relentlessly burrows into the soul;

Slowly wriggling to form a path

Of corrosive slime which daily,

Covers optimism, and reason, and light.

Unnoticed changes seed, and grow until

The soul is scarred with despair and gloom.

The covert prey no outward sign reveals

Until, too late to stop its tour, it,

In destructive silence onward slinks

Till love, and hope, and joy depart.
