Dear readers, many thanks to your help and generosity. After publishing about helping Ukraine, we managed to exceed the fundraising target we set. But there is more good news: a company in Poland offered me some help. They can source those power banks in Poland for a really good price. This means if we raise another 150€ or so, we will be able to buy not ONE but TWO of those devices. The fundraiser is still active, so please keep it going, I hope we can get there together!
What happens next? Unfortunately, my car is still in the middle of insurance limbo, and I am not allowed to get rid of it yet – it needs to be independently valued or something. My car was sat idle, waiting for me to recover from my injuries, and this wasn’t good for it. The battery got flat and there are some other minor issues I need to get sorted. While I got it running, without any difficulties and it drives well, it would be just great to get everything back in perfect shape before sending it to Ukraine. A mechanic friend of mine is helping me out here, but it might need a new battery.
Luckily, some of you donated also to my personal ko-fi page. You were so generous that there is no way I’ll be able to drink so much coffee, so I’ll treat this separate fund as a car-related ‘small change pot’. Meanwhile, the goods will be ordered and I will arrange collection in Eastern Poland en-route to Ukraine.
When will I go? I have been cleared by the doctor as fit for such a road trip. So as soon as the insurance kerfuffle is sorted, I will be ready. Hopefully this will happen within the next couple of weeks, but I can’t give a date yet. You can be sure about one thing: you’ll read about it in Bylines Scotland.
More on world.
